After the great success of our Come and Sing Carmen in 2009, here’s your chance to spend the first Saturday of the festival rehearsing all the chorus music from Gilbert and Sullivan’s delightful opperetta The Mikado. Then, in the evening, perform a concert version of the opera with invited soloists in front of an audience of your nearest and dearest.
Participants will meet at the United Reformed Church for rehearsals from 9.30am until approximately 3.30pm (with breaks for morning coffee and a bring-your-own lunch). You will be provided with a musical score and, under the baton of Janet Bacon, Stanley Opera’s musical director, you will spend the day practising the chorus numbers from The Mikado ready for the 7.30 performance.
You can book participation tickets (or tickets to watch the evening performance itself) by using the Festival Booking Form or visiting Hinckley Library during opening hours. For any further information, please ring 01455 848194.
Please note that participating singers who wish to collect a Mikado score in advance of the event will be asked to pay an additional deposit of £20 in the form of a cheque which will be returned in exchange for the score at the end of the performance.
