Once again St Mary’s Church becomes the daytime haunt of all music-lovers in search of diverting entertainment and light lunch. We are again delighted to announce fine singing every lunchtime fllowed by a choice of freshly-made soup and a roll — all in the price of your ticket. Ticket prices have been kept low and you can even by tickets for all five recitals for the price of four. It really is worth booking early for these highly popular festival events. Please note that there is no musical lunch on Friday 22nd April.
Our week of musical lunches gets off to a start that no-one should miss. Michael Dewis has sung principal roles with many leading opera companies and on many of the world’s great operatic stages, including the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Expect singing of the highest calibre as Michael performs an exquisite set of arias and lieder (and a surprise number or two) to give us a flavour of the work of a travelling opera singer.

After her dazzling performance at the first Hinckley Opera Festival, we warmly welcome back soprano Victoria Wilson. Joining her for our Tuesday musical feast is a young tenor from Montreal, Canada, who started out as a child actor in TV and theatre and now performs with the European Chamber Opera. Their recital promises you an hour of delightful popular arias and familiar duets, coupled with music of a lighter nature, plus a spot of operatic banter. An absolute must.
Noted across Europe for their fresh and dynamic stage presence, these two remarkable singers bring an enticing blend of well-known airs and favourites from opera, operetta, Hollywood musicals and classical song in an unmissable lunchtime event that will charm and delight us all.
Rozanna Madylus has recently been awarded one of the prestigious scholarships to the Royal Academy of Music in London, given only to singers and musicians with great promise. Her recital features the best trouser role arias from Handel to Humperdinck and A Poet’s Love, a haunting Ukrainian song cycle composed to the poetry of Heinrich Heine and inspired by Schumann’s Dichterliebe. A lunchtime treat.
What better way to spend an hour on Easter Saturday than to listen to the pure voices of children from the Dixie School in Market Bosworth? This promises to be a charming and delightful finale to our week of musical lunches at St Mary’s.
