On the middle Saturday of the festival, opera goes on the road as we take some of the very best singers out and about in a unique vintage Midland Red charabanc to perform in locations across (and just beyond) the borough. Meet up with us at any of the five venues listed below to listen to some great singing and to marvel at this delightful vehicle constructed in the 1920s long before the delights of air suspension and double glazing.

At each location, you will hear 40 minutes of great songs from opera, operetta and West End musicals, all performed by a travelling band of up to 25 singers in full costume — and all of it free of charge.

If the weather looks kindly on us, it might be worth bringing a camera. And just in case the singers don’t prove photogenic enough for you, the vintage charabanc certainly will.
